An Internship With The State Of Tennessee - 1845 Words

When I was asked if I would like to do an internship with the Tennessee States legislators for school, I was insertion on what it would in tale. But I applied interview and revived a slot with the 110th General Assembly. I came in to this internship with no expectation and or any real knowledgeable about how state government truly worked other then what I have been told in school and or by the news. The reality of how the state of Tennessee if govern is nothing of whatever notion I may have had. Some good and some bad, But all has been and eye opening experience. We started off the first three weeks of orientation like any other job I have even had in some ways. We started off with the stander sexual harassment video and class on†¦show more content†¦Yes they did take in to account you political party affiliation but they were really trying to pair you with the office legislative assistant and research analyst. Being that they are the ones that you would being working day in and day out with Ms. Behnke wanted to make sure that is would be a fun and productive experience for everyone. This at first was lost on me and other, but when I have to go to other offices I can see were all of their hard work came in to play being that the in the individual the intern is working for be it the legislative assistant or research analyst are alike in more ways than not. Witch in the grand scheme of things this makes scene do to keeping the state government running smoothly when introducing new people in a work environment for a short period of ti me. I was paired out with Senator Mike Bell from the 9th district and his staff that consisted of research analyst Catherine Haire and legislative assistant Chase Johnson. Right off the bat Catherine and I got along well do to us having a lot in common with our interest. One of which was that I am from Ohio and Catherine was from Pennsylvania, so we have had a lot of the same experience from where we were from ranging from out tasted in food and culture. Catherine would make it a point to have me set in on ever meeting that I could with ether her of Senator Bell.
